Interaction

Model agencies are the driving force behind the modelling industry. I collaborate with agencies worldwide, though I'm not directly employed by any of them. This independent relationship gives me valuable insights into current trends in men's modeling across different regions, including stylistic preferences, specialization areas, and emerging opportunities in influencer modeling.

The model agencies I've previously worked with span a diverse range of sizes and locations - from boutique agencies in New York City to established mother agencies in Chicago, as well as international agencies in Cape Town, Milan, London, and Paris. This variety allows me to match models with opportunities that align with their specific goals and market potential.

I work externally from model agencies because I primarily focus on scouting male models. The limited size of the male modelling industry (~50,000 models worldwide) makes it difficult to envisage working for one agency. I have been approached for retainer positions and other contractual arrangements, and I'm certainly open to discussing such opportunities. Several agencies have invited me to explore scouting partnerships, including one of the UK's leading model agencies.

My insistence on professionalism and obtaining the best outcome for each model overrides any partiality I have for specific agencies. I do initially present newly-scouted models to agencies I've worked with previously, as I'm confident these partnerships will properly safeguard and develop the model's career. However, I would never hesitate to recommend an agency that I don't personally work with if it's the best fit for a particular model. My priority is always finding the right opportunity for each individual, regardless of my own professional contacts.

Contacting me

It is easy to contact me regarding a model I have scouted. I can be contacted by email, social media or by telephone. I give my business card to any agents I have met in person.

How does your process work?

Some model agencies invite online applications and have no contact with scouts. Others use their own staff to do their scouting. Approximately two-thirds of model agencies work with external model scouts such as myself. How they do so varies, and I can adapt how I work according to their standards i.e. retainers, commission on supply of a model, commission on payment for bookings, etc.

Do you work as a mother agency or manager?

No, I am purely a model scout, but I like to keep track of the progress of the models I have scouted as I feel a level of responsibility to ensure that their modelling career progresses in the right way, particularly those who are new to the industry. Whilst I may not be a model manager, I do offer to help models when they require advice outside of the agencies they have signed for.

Why does your website name your scouted models by letter rather than by name?

I use their names in person, of course! Model scouting is highly competitive - once a model's name is posted online, they can easily be approached by other scouts or model agencies directly. This happens frequently. I only facilitate direct contact between a model and an agency once the model agency has agreed to meet with the model regarding representation. Often, I'll personally introduce the model to the agency. Maintaining confidentiality for both models and agencies is essential to preserving professional relationships and my own reputation in the field.
